Zen – West DerbyAwful, awful place. On entering the restaurant we were completely ignored by the staff. While standing waiting for 5 minutes for the staff to acknowledge our presence, we were able to take in the shoddy decor and the disgustingly dirty carpet. In the end the staff did us a favour and we had an opportunity to leave and go elsewhere.
Asiana – West DerbyAccess to the restaurant was down a few stairs . Décor in need of attention. Staff exceptionally friendly attention to customers needs was excellent. The food selection was very varied couldn’t decide what to choose, ended up playing it safe and went for what I new and was not disappointed it was fab and enough for the heartiest appetite . Will certainly go back again.
Asiana – West DerbyAfter waiting for 1 hour 15 mins for our starter to arrive - decided we would leave with a our food as a take away,Food was vey average
Elaichi – West DerbyWe love Retsina, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is always lovely and fresh and so is the wine. Now with live music on a fri and sat night it creates a relaxing atmosphere. We would recommend this restaurant .
Retsina Greek Restaurant – West DerbyVisited this restaurant on a number of occasions, more recently using groupon vouchers (2starters & 2 mains for only £12) the food & the service is superb. No more Millon for us.
Asiana – West Derbynice food, nice service, just a pity they didn't understand what was included the living social offer i used.
Elaichi – West DerbyI have been to this great restaurant with my wife quite a few times. The food is exceptional. This must be Old Swan's best kept secret. We have been there with friends who were not sure of liking the Indian food and when they have tried it they said they would definitely be back for more. The staff are friendly and always present the food beautifully. If you don't try this great little restaurant you are missing out on a culinary experience. "great stuff".
Zeera – West DerbyWe have visited this lovely little restaurant on numerous occasions and every time we have been we have never been disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious and there is always plenty of it, every dish we have ordered has been cooked beautifully and nicely presented. The service is excellent and the staff are lovely and friendly. The prices are really reasonable and it's excellent value for money. If you like Indian food please give this great restaurant a visit you will not be disappointed
Zeera – West DerbyThis restaurant has recently changed it's name from Bhaji. It has a "Bring your own" policy but as we went on Sunday afternoon we took soft drinks rather than alcohol. The restaurant was totally empty when we arrived which surprised us as they do a Sunday buffet at £9.95 which we'd expected to be popular. The waiter asked us what kind of glass we'd like for our drinks and we told him we'd brought soft drinks. He said we could only bring our own alcohol - soft drinks had to be purchased from them.We asked for water, in that case. he brought two glasses of warmish tap water, which rather started the meal off on the wrong note! The meal itself was advertised as an all you can eat buffet, but in fact you get a set starter, a choice of mains and a single quite stale poppadom, and one naan bread between two people.I'd say the food was just about acceptable, though the onion bhajis were very good. However, given that the restaurant was deserted, I was surprised to say the least that we were not allowed to consume our own soft drinks...only alcohol!
Elaichi – West DerbyWe have been to Asiana four times now and the food has been great and always piping hot. The service was also very good.
Asiana – West DerbyHidden gem is an oft used phrase to describe something which is usually not a gem at all, just something different. The Grill Room though is a true gem of a restaurant and whilst it is hidden from the well beaten city centre tracks, it is destined to become THE place to eat in town.Owned by husband and wife team Stewart and Maisie St John, The Grill Room on Muirhead Avenue quite simply gets everything right. From the moment of welcome to paying the bill, this is the kind of superlative experience that the North of the city has been crying out for. It is a venue that you want to shout about from the rafters, but are desperate to keep quiet about because you always want to be able to get a table. The ambiance is convivial and the front of house team have mastered the art of being attentive without being obtrusive. The very best way to describe the service when we visited was that they provided an excellent dining experience but I didn’t see them doing it. Maisie and her team have mastered the skill of making you feel like the most important of important customers, without the cloying gushiness that seems to have crept in at a large number of establishments . Anyone who has visited a Marco Pierre White establishment recently will recognise The Grill Room’s style which combines elements of Michelin standard fine dining with good hearty eating. There is not a whiff of over technical, intimidatingly fanciful cuisine; just an honest combination of local, in season produce and real culinary skill which give the diner the very best eating experience. The menu contains a select band of mouth watering dishes and that is the only difficulty you will experience – choosing what to have from the well balanced and easily understood descriptions of the fare on offer. The difficulty of choice is further compounded by a Specials Board with even more tantalising dishes to select from. Whatever you choose you can be sure it will not disappoint. It must have been a leap of faith for Stewart and Maisie to open a new restaurant in the middle of a financial crisis and in a part of the city which is not generally associated with fine dining. But the mastery of the front of house team coupled with the undoubted talent in the kitchen, mean this little acorn will soon become a mighty oak - and in years to come, I will proudly boast to anyone that will listen, that I was there at the beginning.
The Grill Room – West DerbyBeen here quiet a few times now. Food is amazing, service is brilliant . Would recommend to anyone.
Asiana – West DerbyLovely food and great service, Will be going back Would recommend to any curry lover
Asiana – West DerbyWe had booked a table at this restaurant for 7:30 on new years eve for 15 people.when we arrive we couldn't even get through the door ! The place was grossly overbooked and although our table had been booked since October and deposit paid we had to walk out in disgust after waiting over half an hour amongst other people who had booked tables. We wont be going again and they have lost 15 regular customers
