We know the chef who had told us to come along to try the food. Although it was a bit further than we would normally travel we are from Maghull. The starter was fantastic and the main course the meat was so tender..We will definitely go back.. Thanks Chef..

One of the best Chinese restaurants in the North West for quality of food and value for money. Friendly staff and polished decor together with a very varied menu make for a great night out. We have been going to Zen for a number of years now and the standards never seem to slip.

We went to the Retsina 30th Dec and it was a mistake, i opted for the speciality the "Psiton Kleftiko" if this is a speciality then??? the cut of lamb is described as being slow roased on the bone what i received was cheap cuts of lamb i would reserve for the dog!! the sauce was weak tomato based with massive chunks of garlic and ample paprika??? not rich and authentic as i had hoped. My partner opted for the chicken kebabs which in all fairness were nice but then how hard is it to marinate a few pieces of chicken and grill them??? All was served up with frozen chips (nice) and nondescript rice!!! Would i recommend this place...errrr no, a kebab from a chippy would have been more tasty!

I have been going to Zen for years now. The staff are lovely and friendly, food always spot on and such a varied menu. I always recommend to friends and family.

I often go to this restaurant and have never been disappointed.The £18 banquet has got to be the best meal I have ever tasted try the Crispy Beef with a hint of ginger just wonderful.

Went with my mum on Friday night at 6ish, we both had the 2 course menu for £12. I had the chicken wings which were so lovely that the chicken just fell off the bone, and my mum had the garlic mushrooms on toast which I stole a bit of and it was lovely. We then had the cajun chicken burger as they had ran out of the lamb shank which I really wanted. This was the best burger me and my mum had ever eaten, the burger was a proper chicken breast in cajun seasoning, chunky fries, coleslaw and a lovely chilli dip - we wolfed the lot down, no room for deserts so can't comment there, but saw a table getting some and they looked amazing. I would definitely recommend visiting here!

What a night! we visited Almond for the first time on Saturday and it was great! we went for my boyfriends birthday and they made it really special sirloin steak and chips was gorgeous but the whole night was made so special by the new little waiter gerant, he was just so small and cute, he also brought my boyfriend ( who he seemed to take a shine to) a cake with a candle and sang him Happy birthday! we would go back for the food but defo for gerant! what a star!

Myself and my wife visited the almond on Saturday night and were quite disappointed with the whole evening. we waited over 20 minuted for our starters, which both looked messy and rushed, then the mains were cold and over priced. im all for supporting local causes, but the least i expect is warm food. the restaurant is also very cramped. And since im complaining...the drinks are also over priced.

visited a couple of times and thought food was really good, menu designed well and a good range of different foods available, cooked well by the chef! I had the scollops on chirozo and pea puree and the "almond burger" which were both cooked to perfection. It has a nice atmosphere, the waiters and waitresses could be a bit more on the ball, both times i have been left without cutlery after starters as there is just 1 set. The lack of set menu through the week means i don't visit more often.

I visited almond with my partner this evening and had a lovely meal! We had a huge burger with amazing chips, and sausage n mash...no ordinary sausage n mash tho, this was the biz!!! Well worth visiting!

I visited almond restaurant tonight for my dads birthday and had a lovely time. The food was great, i had a chunky cheese burger and chips, which was delicious, and my dad had a great time. compliments to the chef!

Myself and 3 friends had 2 courses last night and the steak was superb. I usually have well done but decided to go for medium, as the others recommended it. it was great, so juicy. compliments to the chef.

Me and 2 friends enjoyed a 3 course meal at the new Almond restaurant on Tuesday. I had a black pudding starter which was very well presented and tasted great, followed by chicken breast with rosti and wild mushrooms. This was beautiful and the dish looked fab. 2 courses was enough for me, but i had to try the grilled amoretto pineapple with almond ice cream...wow!!!

I enjoyed a pleasant after work meal at the Almond Restaurant which has been open since the end of January 2009. The menu gives plenty of choice and the food is excellent and well presented. A nice relaxing evening. I will definitely go again.

Been going to this Restaurant for almost 3 years, The Service is perfect, very friendly staff and the food is amazing. I recommend this to anyone looking for a nice chinese meal.

We visited this pub with friends last week and had an excellent meal - genuine fine pub grub and great atmosphere, attentive staff who made us feel very welcome and were happy to offer their recommendations.
