I recently visited Milan, the two course offer before 7, I thought, was a competitive and comparable deal to other restaurants in the area. I had, also, over the last few years frequented in its past guise as The Green Room, which I enjoyed thoroughly. Upon visiting in its current guise as Milan, I felt just disappointment. The menu is nicely presented, but nothing jumped out at me I didn't think wow that looks nice! I opted for the Tuscan sausages for a starter, it came out, two sausages in a bowl, topped with a sprig of parsley. Nothing really inventive about it, pleasant enough , just didn't seem much effort had gone into it. For the main, I chose the pork belly, always a must if on the menu. When it arrived, it was in a mini cauldron, stewed in a thick gravy like sauce, topped with a sprig of parsley. Again quite disappointed, no one commented , that looks nice, because it didn't. When I saw someone else's beef dish, in the same mini cauldron , with a comparable thick gravy sauce, topped again with a sprig of parsley, I just felt the menu has no invention. The vegetables potatoes had the air of quality / stock control, nicely presented but finely metered out in a frugal manner. Pork belly was fished out the cauldron, it was just stewed meat, think casserole. It was very salty and very rich, I did not enjoy it, but looking at the menu I don't think I would of enjoyed anything else, unless you liked parsley! To summarize - could do better ..... a lot better.
