Brent House – Weston Super MareWent for the carvery, after being recommended. Newly refurbished bar/dining area. The day four of us went, the carvery, best I have seen in the area, and I counted TEN veg for the price. We have been several times since on speck, but unable too get a table, booking is a must it seems we'll be back.
The Woolpack Inn – Weston Super MareReally lovely carvery with lots of choice good value for money.
The Woolpack Inn – Weston Super MareExellent . recommended, excellent service
Tarantella – Weston Super MareHave been going their for nearly 20 years. Same chef who is very friendly. Now needs sprucing up as it is looking very tired. Food though, has always been first class and great value. Always fresh ingredients cooked to order. Seems to survive on take aways. Will carry on using until I'm sick of curries!
Highbridge Tandoori – Weston Super MareDespite living in Weston for over 5 years I had never been to the Sea Palace, mainly due to its previous history of Hygiene problems. However after several articles about the owners cleaning up and the money re-invested into the restaurant I felt it was about time I tried it. The restaurant is large and clean, freshly painted and very ?hinese?with huge murals on the walls and painted in red and gold colours. A mixture of standard Chinese starters where excellent, fresh and tasty. The prawn toast pilled high with prawn, the spare ribs meaty, the shredded seaweed crispy and sweet, the chicken Satay very nice and freshly prepared. Duck and Pancakes came next, they where hot and plentiful (to the point my guests stopped eating it so that they could handle a main course). The main course was perhaps the let down of the meal. Its not that they where bad, its more that the started and duck was so good and the. The meat dishes all had plenty of meat, the lemon chicken clearly had home-made sauce on it and the chicken itself was a soft chicken breast. The duck was soft and tender, even the vegetable dish was tasty (and I? normally a meat eater). The chilli beef was a little disappointing I thought, the beef had been cooked to such a point that the beef had disappeared and all you where left was a sort of crackling, not bad but not what I had expected. Pudding was a mixed bag. My banana toffee looked the part, a 2 golf ball size pieces of dough with a piece of banana inside cover in a crisp toffee coating sounded and look lovely, but let down by the dough not being cooked properly (making me think sunken Yorkshire puds that hadn? risen well). The other toffee dish (apple I think) had the same problem, not bad but not perfect either. I? glad I didn? order the ice cream dessert like my daughter, she thought it was very nice but I? not keen on massed produced chocolate covered ice creams straight from the freezer. Overall a good night out and the feed was worth going for, price was very reasonable approx. £65 for 4 people (including a bottle of wine - no coffees). Service was excellent, friendly and attentive although we dined on a Monday night and it wasn? busy, so given the size of the restaurant I don? know if the service would stand up to a full house. Would go again.
Sea Palace – Weston Super MareWe were taken here for a treat by friends who found this place almost by accident, they have fallen in love with it and we can see why. It was our first visit but it won't be our last, the whole evening was superb.
Old Thatched Cottage Restaurant The – Weston Super MareI cant wait to book in the restaurant as I have only had takeaway so far. The food is great. After a visit to Delhi, I found it closest to the authentic Indian flavour.
Surma – Weston Super MareWe came to see Unwined Wine Bar on previous recommendation and were not disappointed. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff. Will be back! even from Bristol!
Unwined Wine Bar – Weston Super MareHad a fabulous evening, excellent food and service, very busy but that didn't detract from the great ambience, very nice, I would go again and would recommend.
Tarantella – Weston Super Maregreatest pub in town unfortunately no food though (except crisps and pepperamis)
White Hart The – Weston Super MareOf late the food has not been quite as good as it was and recently we found out that the chef we loved so much has left! The food is still really good but they haven? quite got it to the standard that it was. Still worth going to but as for us, we have followed our chef. Still fantastic service.
Bengal Raj – Weston Super MareAn unexpected find at the back of a rather ordinary pub. This simple restaurant, on a cliff over looking the sea specialises in sea food. A somewhat 60's atmosphere should not put you off, for the food can be quite enterprising. Seared scallops as a starter were nicely cooked and so fresh, the dish that stood out was the smoked haddock with poached egg and spinach, finished with hollandaise. The succulent fish, not dyed yellow, had a great oak-smoked flavour, and was perfectly cooked and went so well with the traditional poached egg. The duck was nicely cooked and tender, though a little short on seasoning. Choose well and you will have a most enjoyable meal here with friendly if simple service. Considering the quality of ingredients used, it is not expensive.
Captains Cabin – Weston Super MareWe had a delightful meal and would recommend this restaurant to other people
The Borough Arms – Weston Super MareFamily run. Very good home cooked food. Try the Keftiko - it's great!!!
