Disappointing. Booked a few weeks ago to ensure we had a table whilst visiting Whitby. My cod was small in comparison to others I had been served at other restaurants and it wasn't hot. The waitress did replace it but by the time it arrived my husband had virtually finished his haddock meal. The mushy peas are an extra and they were left on the table so when my fish came back they were cold! We had to ask three times for our second round of drinks and some water. I think the waitress forgot. Additionally I had no cutlery when my starter arrived. The waitress said she usually provided cutlery once she had served starters!! Really disappointing start to our holiday.

Excellent quality food and service in a well spaced out area. Whenever I visit Whitby I always have one meal at this amazing place and I have never been let down by the quality of the food served

Visited on Wednesday 9th June , greeted by lovely friendly staff, really wonderful food, great service, can recommend the Jam Rolypoly !! We had booked a few weeks ago, so there was no waiting in a queue, all in all we had a lovely evening.

Always top class and brilliant quality food.

Me and my family ate here last week, 6 of us altogether. The service and food was amazing. Can’t wait to return. Recommend to anyone going to Whitby!

This is a must place to visit if you ever go to Whitby. The whole experience is 5 Star. Excellent customer service with phenomenal food. Ensure you book as it gets extremely busy

Wow!! Seafood platter complimented with a bottle of champagne was absolutely amazing. Starters of garlic prawns and crab pate was also so tasty. Service could not be beaten and the restaurant was spotless. Book a visit, you won’t be disappointed 5*

Excellent food & service

We ate here on the 8th June at 1445 x 6 people & it couldn't have been more perfect. Table was ready when we arrived - There was someone waiting outside to greet us - make sure you book! Fabulous table by the window Service, food all amazing !! I had the cod & chips & it was just enough Well done guys, absolutely suburb xx

We had booked in advance as it was our anniversary. The meal was delicious and the service was excellent and staff very friendly.

I attended with my family on the 13th June to celebrate my birthday. The meal was so good and thoroughly enjoyed by us all - so much so we have booked again to come again on Wednesday.

Great food and good atmosphere

We visited the magpie cafe on 9th June 2021 and as always the meal was first class. The staff are very attentive and friendly a real credit to the Magpie. The menu is extensive but my husband would always recommend the fish pie, be sure to have a good appetite when you visit, portions are large! Booking a table is recommended as this is a very popular cafe.
