Brilliant in every way
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyUsual delicious food! Long wait for main course but understandable in current climate. Always a joy though !
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyDelighted to be back at the Magpie Cafe. Food is just as wonderful as I remember it with a full menu. Best restaurant in the area. The take away fish & chips is good too.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyThe food as usual was very tasty and well presented. The service was exceptional.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyWe both had cod and chips. The cod was beautiful , white flaky and skinned with a lovely crisp batter. The chips were crisp and plentiful. Despite only having regular portions we were sadly too full to manage a dessert. Service was excellent but not hurried.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyAs always, this is one of the highlights of our visit to Whitby. The food is excellent and the staff pleasant and helpful, we cannot fault it. In fact we visited twice during our 3 day visit, so that we could have haddock and chips as well as trying one of the speciality dishes!
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyGood atmosphere and the service was excellent.A very good menu and the food was superb.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyAbsolutely delicious. It really did not disappoint. The fish and chips were the best we’ve had and the grilled salmon salad and chips with pickled onion chutney side was exceptional. The wine was amazing and the special scallops starter was 10/10. Exceeded expectations and would certainly recommend. The staff were also very friendly. The atmosphere was basic but relaxed.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyThe Magpie remains one of the best fish restaurants we've ever visited at home or abroad. It's a shame in a way that it is seen mainly as a fish and chip restaurant although they are excellent. The choice of seafood and fish is just outstanding and at a very good price. The presentation of the courses is superb and what one would expect from a first class restaurant. It styles itself as a cafe so don't expect crisp, white tablecloths and silver cutlery but this does nothing to detract from the fabulous fish and seafood on offer. We live near Leeds and only wish it was on our doorstep!
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyGreat place as always .
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyFirst class meal as always, service excellent.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyWe had a reservation for 8pm but we were tired and hungry and they managed to find us a table an hour earlier. The food selection was good and the service was excellent despite the restrictions in place. My husband had oysters to start and I had crab bisque. The oysters were excellent but I found my soup to have a little too much tomato although it was still very tasty. The haddock and chips were cooked to perfection as was the monkfish with creamy leek sauce. Unfortunately no room left for dessert!
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyWe had been told that their fish and chips were amazing so our expectations were high. Pleased to say we were not disappointed at all.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyVery disappointing. Been to Magpie several times over the years. Food excellent but staff were very unprofessional. You expect more with the prices charged. More like a cafe than a restaurant but with restaurant prices. Wont be visiting again.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyWe had an amazing experience at Magpie’s. Two of the party had the fish hotpot which was just loaded with fish and the appreciative noises coming from them said it all. One of the party had crab with sweet potato wedges and I was allowed 2 starters instead of one main so I indulged myself with the haddock chowder then the crab. Both were sublime. Nothing was too much trouble for the very friendly yet professional staff. The biggest problem we had was choosing just what to eat from the extensive menu. Everything looked enticing.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyCharming and attentive staff. Pleasant surroundings. Immaculately clean. (I have already given feedback to our waitress) What follows is a brief summary: - starter (scallops) tasteless. Mine was goat’s cheese that was satisfactory. - main courses: 1. mussels satisfactory but soggy chips. Replaced with slightly less but still soggy chips. 2. Monkfish, tasteless and dry. We recognise that this was 2 days into the lifting of lockdown, but the almost’London’ prices were really not justifiable.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyWe spent a lovely evening at the Magpie. The food was amazing so fresh and beautifully cooked. The staff are very helpful and friendly. After lockdown this was a wonderful treat.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbyAbsolutely tremendous. Every bit as good as James Martin says. Had the seafood sharing platter. So much brought a third home in a doggy bag . Wine pretty good too. Can thoroughly recommend.
