A classic Italian. Never go wrong here!
Papa Luigis – WiganVisited the poachers on mon 9th april and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. My fiancé says the fajitas was to die for as for the cheesy bacon chips out of this world. The staff where very friendly and although there were not many people in at the time we went the atmosphere was very good will go back there soon as we had a enjoyable evening.
Poachers Arms – WiganGallimores restaurant offers everything from the friendly welcome to the fabulous food attentive staff and fabulous atmosphere. Give it a try you will not be disappointed
Gallimores – WiganBest place round here to eat!
The Fat Bull – WiganVery pleasant modern café on the way out of Wigan to Standish. I had a lovely sandwich that came with a salad and cous cous . New owners as this was Café Orchid.
The Allotment – WiganA very accommodating place. Popped in for a takeaway slice of pizza that they didn't actually offer, however they said they would do one for me. I then thought I may as well have a full pizza (great value at £6.95) and it was excellent. Fresh wholesome ingredients and was full of flavour. Much better than the usual pizza, almost bruschetta. Very impress. The staff didn't mind me being a pain in the arse either. I will definitely go again when in Wigan
Cafe Diesis – WiganI went to Haigh Hall on Sunday, the weather was lovely, the grounds were beautiful. But it was drastically let down by the catering facilities, with families with young children having to queue for over 30 minutes to be served with the most basic of dishes. Very disappointing.
Haigh Courtyard Tea Room and Cafe – WiganWe visit The Owls nearly every week because the service and staff are great. The food is brilliant and served quickly ,the price can't be better anywhere around Wigan. Me and my family try lots of different restaurants but still put The Owls at the top of the list for the full package mentioned above.
The Owls At Standish – WiganReally enjoyed my first time here, went mid week and fantastic value for money and excellent food. Definitely going again.
Summat To Ate – WiganThis place has Food Hygiene and Safety' issues, so I would avoid and try somewhere else. Staff handle money, touch the piercing on their face (yes, its still there), have a good scratch of their shoulder (under their shirt) and then pick up your food without using the utensils. Disgusting... basic hygiene please.
Seven Seas Fish Restaurant – WiganWent on Thursday 18th, service was quite slow even though not very busy, were told when we tried to order that they had no chicken wings, no meatballs and no spaghetti bolognese (great for an Italian restaurant!). Other food ordered was average, no better. Overall disappointing experience.
Pesto at the Dicconson Arms – WiganHaving eaten at the Boathouse on 3 separate occasions inc Sunday lunch I thought it right to leave a review and say how fantastic it is. With a great choice for all courses from modern twist on the traditional to unique dishes with fresh & homemade veg, eggs, pies & meat - recommended is the black pudding, pigeon or risotto starters & pork belly, any pie or fish mail & dessert has to be the sticky toffee pudding. Lovely location by the water in summer or cozy log fire warmth for winter. Fantastic service, knowledgeable staff & great value - just go as soon as possible!
The Boathouse Pub & Kitchen – WiganLunch at Gallimores on a wild and windswept November day. I had Cock and Bull – chicken and steak in a peppercorn sauce –which was yummy and my colleague had the Hunter’s Chicken. Recommended.
Gallimores – WiganGood local pub with quality cask ales. Watched the rugby here the other day and had a nice afternoon at the Delph Tavern.
Delph Tavern – WiganWe go to the Hungry Horse quite a lot as you cant get value for money anywhere else like you get here. The food quality is superb always very generous portions and very pleasant staff. You really need to try different things off the menu as you will then have so many favorites to choose from. keep up the good work.
The Mount Orrell – WiganBeen here too many times. But my special day was when we had my daughters 1st Holy Communion upstairs. The food the service and price was excellent. Howard and his staff could not have given us better service and did everything to make my little girls day special. And to serve a party if 30 at the same time is a credit to the chef. Spot on
Gallimores – WiganWe had a family meal to celebrate a special occasion on Thursday evening (August 20th). There were 17 of us from various parts of the country tucking into the wonderful suckling pig meal. The food was fantastic & everybody in the party commented on the quality, taste & presentation of the meal. The staff were very attentive & friendly and the whole atmosphere was brilliant. Add to that the selection of their own beers & good quality wine ensured a complete gastronomic experience. We would highly recommend a visit to the Wayfarer.
Wayfarer Restaurant – WiganOur family have used many facilities at Haigh Hall for over 40 years. We even had our wedding reception there. It has been superb with the exception of the cafe. The food is expensive for what you get. I walk for miles with the dog and stop there to 'refuel' and buy the very average coffee and sausage on a barmcake. There is no shelter provided for dog owners with their best friend. I have sat on a wet bench outside on many occasions and the cafe was empty. I feel like a second rate citizen and don't go there now like I used to.
