good food lovely friendly staff warm welcome excellent beer
Eagle and Child – Wiganjust to say thank you all for a great meal my friends and i had today we was from shepway court in winton shelby our manager booked it what a lovely place and the staff fantastic overall a very very good day just to warn you we will be back xx
The Owls At Standish – WiganExcellent Indian cuisine with great service. The new extension that has doubled the size of the restaurant has only increased the ambiance of the place. I can fully recommend Fish tikka starter followed by the chicken Jal Fresi. All very reasonably priced.
Basmati Restaurant – WiganHaven't been for a while and used to enjoy it here but recent visit was very disappointing. Vegetable soup was blended to oblivion with little taste; gammon overcooked and tough; steak not cooked to order. Very poor standard. Will not be returning.
Rigbye Arms Country Inn and Bistro – WiganMy last experience at this restaurant was AWFUL! I have been to this restaurant many times and generally receive an adequate standard of food and service. My most recent trip i received neither and left shocked at how rude the staff were. Our issue was that we booked a table but after 30 mins waiting, still hadn't sat down, despite 3 other parties (without booking) getting their tables before us. We questioned why they said there was a table (when we rang up and booked) and why we couldn't sit at one of the empty tables - we received a plethora of rude responses. This was before having our change thrown across the bar at us at the mere suggestion of leaving. There was a total lack of respect, customer service, and common decency. We go to restaurants to pay for a good meal / atmosphere/ service; this restaurant left a lot to be desired and the staff seemed totally unaware of the concept of the service industry and the premise that the customer is always right. We ended up leaving the restaurant and eating elsewhere. will definitely not be going back in a hurry. Unbelievable that restaurants treat their customers so badly.
Basmati Restaurant – WiganI've visited many restaurants over the past 40years and I can say I know good food , but since Going back to wayfarer this last six months I've never been away, the menu is excellent and the food is excellent and well presented and been recommending the wayfarer to all my friends they to have visited and all have been impressed
Wayfarer Restaurant – WiganWe took a family of eight on new years eve we had to book and pay a deposit but it was worth it .great food 3 courses and drinks for £20 each good value.
Buraq – WiganWent for xmas dinner with the family, £50 a head for adults and £27 a head for children. The food and service wasn't particularly good. Interesting to read all the positive reviews about the place on this site and it's a pity we didn't enjoy the same experience as others seem to have done. The pheasant was overcooked and served as whole with little or no room for the vegetables. The prawn and salmon starter was fine (no cooking involved for that dish) but the pate was considered barley edible that came with a rather lacklustre salad. The turkey was also too dry. No wine service and a rather bizarre system for ordering drinks at the table that 'had' to be paid for 'now'. Awful coffee served at the end, with a small carton of UHT cream to whiten it. A carton of UHT cream? An after dinner chocolate mint came with coffee but each one had melted in its packet next to the hot coffee cup it accompanied. I know this won't make a blind bit of difference because the place is so popular and that is probably the problem: complacency. The place was fully booked and the money was in the bank so why bother with the notion of providing the customer with anything approaching a reasonable service; the customer can disregarded as a mug. £180 was the total bill I paid for my wife, children and myself: for what? Happy xmas The Owls at Standish, obviously, I'll not be going again.
The Owls At Standish – WiganThe Owls is a JOKE! I am highly disappointed with the service and unorganization! I have always come to the owls for a meal whatever the occasion and for a Christmas party we decided to go and the waitresses gave my vegetarian friend a meat lasagna instead on the vegetarian, not only allowing my friend to become extremely ill and was throwing up in the toilets. When asking for the manager the manager shouted at me and I was spoken to in an aggressive tone and felt very victimised . No apology was given. When leaving the owls in disappointment of our meals due to the disgrace of the menu when paying we realised that we had been charged for meals we hadn't even ordered! I will never go to the Owls again. Very very disappointed
The Owls At Standish – WiganI went here the other night only 1 way to sum up there food... Like sex in your mouth, it's that good! Great staff. Will be going again!
Rigbye Arms Country Inn and Bistro – WiganFrom the moment you enter until the time you leave you're made made to feel very welcome .All the staff are happy to see you.The food is excellent with plenty of choice. If you have a birthday the waiters will sing you a lovely little Italian song.I strongly advise you to give it a go.
Olive Garden – Wiganamazing vegan night ...what a treat.do you do bed and breakfast too?
The Coven – Wigangood fresh food and excellent company. fantastic for veggies and vegans
The Coven – WiganWe have often passed this restaurant but never been in until 3 weeks ago. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the excellent service and atmosphere that went with it. Definitely be my number one choice for Italian food, in fact I'm planning on trying the Sunday menu this week.
Francos – WiganMy daughter came to visit from Berkshire with her family and surprised us with a reservation for dinner at The Owls.- a great idea for a perfect evening .
