Fantastic Food, Excellent Service, Beautiful Atmosphere, Simply Amazing

By far the best Chinese meal we have eve had and if in york at lunchtime their shopper special is great value for money.

13/10/1217.30 Two out of three fish dry and hard, Had been left to dehydrate on hot plate They were unable to give refund, until I made a fuss and manager call.Shop seem to be run by young people who were unable to make decisions.could only exchange fish. No apologizes given when first contacted by phone from home.

I have enjoyed Indian food all over the world, including in India, but never as much as at this restaurant. The service is exceptional, although be prepared to wait if you go later in the evening to what is a busy venue. I like my food rather spicy and there was no issue with my asking for dishes to be prepared to my liking. True, it is not cheap, but the food is freshly prepared, even when they are busy, and you will enjoy an unforgetable experience.

I recently took a friend to dinner here and we had a superb ala carte meal. I had heard good things and seen a few of the reviews on here before we went and I must say it was nigh on perfect from start to finish. The quality of the food was shown off with expert cookery and the service was attentive and interested. Compliments to all involved at this fine establishment.

We booked a table for 9pm and were told that we had to be out of there as they lock the doors at 10.30pm as this is their strict policy , this was saturday night !!!! Needless to say we cancelled this as we did not want to be rushed .

Great night last week, thanks to the staff who made it so memorable and a massive thanks to the chefs whose cooking was perfect!! Such an excellent meal, thanks again.

Not impressed by the Sunday carvery, veg was soggy and mushey. stuffing was left out to dry and the mash was runny. A warm welcome but the food really let it down. Unfortunately we won't be eating here again.

Had an excellent meal at this cosy restaurant a few nights ago. The quality of food was second to none and the service impeccable! Keep it up, because we will return!!!

What a find. Decided to stroll round York then have a meal for a change. Gave up on the stroll, too cold, but what we found at number 31 more than made up for it, it was a delight., the ambience the food and the staff were all first class. We enjoyed every mouthfull on our 51st wedding anniversary. We will be returning.

Family friends and I went to Tassili on Friday 11th May to celebrate my sisters birthday. What a wonderful experience. Firstly the food was absolutely delicious and enjoyed by all. I had the Lamb Tagine with prunes apricots and almonds, not something I would have cooked at home, it was divine. Loved the Moroccan decor, the service was excellent. Nice toilets too.

great place and food, don't understand someones comment about it being islamic? you wouldn't describe an more traditional place as christian? surely a better description would be that its typically moroccan? anyway visit here frequently and always top notch

Have eaten here twice in the last month. There is excellent choice and the food is good quality and delicious. Friendly staff and nice relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant. The set menus are really good value.

myself and 5 friends ate at 31 Castlegate this week, as it had been my birthday, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, the food was excellent and the service was impeccable. A good night was had by all and we will certainly be eating there again

We are frequent visitors to York and find getting a decent meal there difficult. Now we have found Tassili our problem has been solved. The food is delicious, extremely rich and very filling. It is also very well cooked and presented. The decor is authentically Islamic with contemporary features. The service was efficient and friendly and our four year old was very well catered for. The staff were happy to prepare simpler versions of the menu which she enjoyed eating. By the way, you may like to sample the mint tea, which is even better as an accompaniment than wine. It was made with rose water, was extremely refreshing and had a complex and satisfying taste.
